This Scientific Meeting is to be a round table discussion among three contributors to a recent special issue of The Psychoanalytic Quarterly which focused on contemporary psychoanalytic views on endings of treatment. Recent developments in analytic theory and practice focusing on early trauma, dissociation, and the need for development of missing and inadequate structures and capacities raise new and newly emphasized questions regarding analytic endings. The advantages and disadvantages of different forms of post-treatment contact are considered, as are the analyst’s resistances to ending.

Cheryl Goodrich, PhD & Henry Massie, MD
