Palo Alto Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Training Program (PAPPTP)

Two Year Program

The PAPPTP Two-Year Program builds knowledge and skills in psychoanalytic psychotherapy for licensed clinicians at any stage of development. Studying psychoanalytic concepts and psychodynamic methods with a cohort of colleagues over two years provides an opportunity to learn the contemporary and clinically relevant application of psychoanalytic ideas. This is accomplished through an extensive, integrated curriculum (with courses in Theory, Human Development, and Clinical Technique), individual consultation regarding several of the student’s cases, and individual mentorship.

Benefits include an increased capacity for intensive therapeutic work, new social and professional contacts, and participation in a community of psychoanalytically oriented clinicians.

Class schedule: Thirty-two Fridays per academic year, 8:30 a.m. to 11:50 a.m., from September 29, 2023, to May 2025.

Location:

Tuition: $2747 for Year I. Additional costs include fees for ongoing consultation on your cases, CE credits, and printed readers. There is a $50 application fee. You are subject to pay tuition each year you are enrolled in this program. *Please note that tuition rates are subject to change and typically increase 3-5% each year.

Applications for the class starting September 2023 will be accepted from 1/15/23 to 6/30/23 and considered in the order received. Applicants must have completed a clinical degree and be seeing patients under their own license. Admission requires an application, letters of reference, and personal interviews. Class size is a maximum of 10. The application will be available no later than January 15, 2023, via download from this website or by calling 415-563-5815.
