The San Francisco Center for Psychoanalysis (SFCP) is excited to open the application process for those wishing to begin our two-year Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Training Program (SF-PPTP) or our one-year Foundations program in September 2024.

Through an integrated program of seminars, case conferences, and individual supervision, the SF-PPTP offers an in-depth introduction to psychoanalytic psychotherapy theory and practice, and provides grounding in fundamental psychoanalytic principles.

Key details of the San Francisco Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Training Program (SF-PPTP) are as follows:

  • The program provides a rigorous and engaging introduction to practicing psychoanalytic psychotherapy, with attention to the role of the personal unconscious and social unconscious in psychotherapeutic practice.

  • Participants engage with SFCP’s rich community of psychoanalytic clinicians of various backgrounds.

  • Participants engage in individual supervision and mentorship

  • Meant to be completed alongside other work or training, as a supplement.

  • Classes meet in person on Tuesday evenings from 6:15 to 9:30 at SFCP (444 Natoma Street in San Francisco) from June through from September 2024- June 2025 (Year 1)  and from September 2025 – June 2026 (Year 2).

  • Monthly in-person attendance requirements for those that live 2+ hours from SFCP.
