Program Title:Becoming a Couple:
An Introduction to Psychoanalytic Couple Psychotherapy

Time:07:00pm – 08:30pm
Instructor:Dana Iscoff, MFT
Location:Online via Zoom
Program Fee:Free
Note:Registration is limited to 14 participants

It can be very difficult to untangle the many dynamics that individuals bring to couple psychotherapy. This course will help students gain an understanding of working psychoanalytically with couples introducing Mary Morgan’s concept of “the couple state of mind.” This approach enables a therapist to think about each individual as a part of the couple’s unconscious relating and to help the couple learn how to think about what they are creating together. We will explore issues of the couple’s projective system and projective identification. We will discuss unconscious beliefs and fantasies as well as struggles with separateness and narcissistic relating. We will look at issues of transference and countertransference. Case material will be presented to highlight these topics.

Readers Fee

Charges for reading material required for the seminars are not included in tuition. They are based upon copyright laws and change based on the content of the readers. The charges will be billed to you separately. Please submit your registration two weeks in advance in order to receive reading materials before the course starting date.
